Thanks to our generous supporters, we made $500 micro grants to five grassroots organizations working directly with immigrant families. These groups are closest to the families most at risk, and are underfunded relative to the need.

The grants will go toward equipment at two community kitchens, including hand trucks, dollies, and a contribution to a delivery van fund, literacy classes at a community center, and operating support for two pro bono legal clinics focused on asylum work.

We recently ran a fundraising drive to purchase and distribute essential supplies to families in crisis. We raised enough to distribute $2,500 in supplies including diapers, formula, soap, socks, and other everyday essentials across 45 families.

We also spent a Sunday afternoon at a legal clinic hosted by Saint Peter's Church. While parents met with immigration lawyers and social service advocates, we ran activities for the children who came with them. Along with peer volunteers we recruited, we kept the kids busy with games and art for the length of the appointments.

We were busy this fall organizing ourselves so that families can find us, supporters can learn about our work, and our outreach can grow. Together We Rise NYC is now a formally incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the State of New York, and we built this website to share updates and opportunities to get involved.

We also met with leaders from five organizations serving the communities we hope to reach, to better understand what immigrant families are facing and how we might support the work already underway.
